Ca Ragni Winery, Our latest arrivals, a hand-picked selection of the newest and most exciting wines from around the world!

We are proud to represent this region

Our vineyard is Ca Ragni in the hills of San Clemente, Emilia- Romagna, Italy. Close to the Adriatic Sea and right next to Tuscany. We come from the region of Bolognese sauce, lasagna, ravioli and gnocchi. From the city of Parma comes Grana Padano and from Modena, Balsamic Vinegar. Our closest city is Rimini - famous for Piada - a special flat bread that we make from a variety of grains and fill with delectable seasonal ingredients. It is lovingly kneaded by expert Nonnas. Our province produced the one and only Federico Fellini director of ‘La Dolce Vita’. He showed the world the beauty of Rimini and how we flirt with our ladies. My father Mauro produces some of the best Sangiovese in Rimini Hills – a province famous for D.O.C. status which guarantees the origin of the wine. He has won quite a few wine competitions!

Made by Hand

"For us it can be interpreted literally. We planted our vines by hand, trained them, prune them, and pick them – all by hand."

Our Wines

Botte Piccola

Our Botte Piccola, or Small Barrel, is a masterpiece. The colour is intense red with shades of purple. We can smell berries and raisins and tastes notes of cocoa, liquorice and cinnamon. This full bodied drop is best paired with strong flavours such as truffle, seasoned cheese and red meat which all enhance the complexity of our Botte Piccola.

TYPE: RED

ALCOHOL: 13.5%VOL

CONTAINS 750ML

Bolle Rosé

Fine and durable bubbling with an elegant nose, combining small red berry fruit and floral overtones. Ideal as an aperitif, with cured meats and cheese, alternatively with fish soup or any other fish-based dish.

TYPE: SPARKLING ROSÉ

ALCOHOL: 11.5%VOL

CONTAINS 750ML

Teresa

Teresa is our best white wine. From the Grechetto gentile grapes on the hills of Rimini, ripened by the warm sun, this DOP wine has a wonderful balanced taste. Best served with fish.

TYPE: WHITE

ALCOHOL: 13%VOL

CONTAINS 750ML

Montepulito

Our Sangiovese is not processed in oak barrels which means it is young, fresh and also rough, the typical characteristics of the taste of Sangiovese from Emilia-Romagna. It is wine for every day and great with meat or rich fish like sardine.

TYPE: RED

ALCOHOL: 12.5%VOL

CONTAINS 750ML

Ca Togni

Obtained from the white bombino vine, it takes on the name of Pagadebit (Debt-Payer) after the characteristic generosity of this vine in producing healthy grapes in all vintages. This is how the Pagadebit name came about. With its bright/yellow color and greenish reflections, typically for this vine, it has floral hints of Hawthorne, fruity white peach aromas and a pleasant taste. It is generally an ideal companion to fish-based dishes, excellent as an aperitif, and good alongside traditional flatbreads (so called ‘piada’ or ‘piadina’) and soft cheeses.

TYPE: WHITE

ALCOHOL: 12.5%VOL

CONTAINS 750ML

Bigin

Hand selected grapes is the secret of our Sangiovese Bigin. Soft and juicy, stored in oak for a year before bottling. Bigin is our Signature wine and we have been making it at Ca’ Ragni wines for 40 years. Excellent with cheeses and chorizo. With it we salut grandpa!

TYPE: RED

ALCOHOL: 13.5%VOL

CONTAINS 750ML

Bolle Bianche

This is a classic sparkling white wine. A lovely delicate and slightly fruity bubble which is perfect for summer afternoons. It is the colour of an Italian sunset. Ideally served as an aperitivo.

The Story of Secondo

My great grandfather, whose name was ‘Secondo’, started our vineyard in 1954. He purchased 10 acres of land and planted the Sangiovese vines. Why was his name ‘Second’ I wondered? It is a funny story. Families in the past were big and with so many kids they called the first ‘First’, the second ‘Second’ and so on. There are so many reasons we invite you to discover this land and our wines. We make whites, reds and wonderful sparkling wines! Our grandfather’s favourite wine is Botte Piccola – a Sangiovese blend aged in large barrels for a year and then in small French Oak barrels for six months. Our Ca Togni white wine is made with a local grape called Pagadebit which means Pays the Debt. This grape variety – native to our region and always able to be grown – was used to pay debts amongst farmers in 50s and 60s.
